Yesterday, in Beijing, China, the apple of China, Xiaomi, introduces UWB Technology for next level IOT. This technology will allow users to control all sorts of smart home devices. Moreover, UWB stands for ultra-wideband. You just need to point your smartphone to a smart home device and they will be interconnected.
According to them, they customized the Mi 10 Series and other smart home devices by putting built-in UWB processor and antennas, while using the specialized antenna layout and algorithms developed by yours truly, Xiaomi.
With the help of UWB Technology, a Xiaomi smartphone that supports it can locate smart home devices with centimeter-grade precision. In an imagination sense, it’s like a spatial positioning just like the human eye and can pinpoint the target smart home device with the angle measurement accuracy reaching ±3°. Which is similar to an indoor GPS and dubbed as “point to connect” by Xiaomi.
This type of feature may also complement Bluetooth connectivity and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Since this involves wireless operations there should be some security, which Xiaomi didn’t forget. Moreover, according to Xiaomi, the UWB Technology demonstrates excellent security due to its narrow pulse characteristics and ultra-wideband. In addition, the ultra-wideband has Xiaomi Distance Algorithm to add more accuracy.

Like we said above, you need to have a smartphone with a processor that is capable of UWB processor and array antennas in order to perform this.

And then, developers for PCs made the RAMDISK technology to set aside a slice of RAM to used as virtual storage.
Moreover, this type of technology is only available in PCs before. But, that principle deemed by Xiaomi as applicable to smartphones as well. And that’s why, Xiaomi RAMDISK feature will become available to its users.

The advantage of using this technology, is that the speed of RAM is faster than the storage technology used in PCs. Which leaves us that the RAMDISK technology will be read faster than the storage technology used in smartphone. Sources said that the Mi 10 Ultra will be the first smartphone to support this feature from Xiaomi. Thanks to its 16GB RAM LPDDR5, which is so fast to compute. To put that in numbers, the speed of RAM is 44GB per second. However, it also features UFS 3.1 storage that can read for 1700+MB per second and can write for 750MB per second. Therefore, Xiaomi’s developers take advantage of these numbers to preferred Mi 10 Ultra as the device to feature the first ever RAMDISK feature on a smartphone. But on a trial.
In addition, we don’t have an idea yet if this feature will become available on Mi 10T Series.
