Hong Kong-Beijing, CHINA — It’s been a while since Xiaomi leaked about MIUI 13, prior to the BETA release of MIUI 12.5. There are a lot of speculations prior to today as to when it will be released. Recently, we mentioned that if Xiaomi 12 gets released it’s only fair to say that it may be the perfect time to also officially introduce the MIUI 13 to the public, however, with these recent leaks, MIUI 13 may get introduced together with Xiaomi 12X and Redmi K50.
Xiaomi’s update strategy is that following the debut version, each device would receive two or three Android upgrades. Xiaomi releases three or four Android upgrades depending on the CPU. Xiaomi has a habit of killing the update life of the same CPU platforms in the same release. The Snapdragon 865 was originally seen on the Mi 10 series of smartphones. It was originally utilized in Xiaomi’s Android 10 operating system. Android 12 or Android 13 will be the final update for the Mi 10 series. Snapdragon 870 was used in the Mi 10S, Redmi K40, and POCO F3, which is an SD 865 CPU.
Users of the Mi Mix 4, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11, Redmi K40, K40 Pro, Mi 10S, and Mi 11 Lite 5G should anticipate their phones to be upgraded to MIUI 13 based on Android 12 shortly since beta builds have already been detected for these smartphones.
It’s worth mentioning that the Redmi K50 and Xiaomi 12X’s software build numbers indicate that both phones will ship with Xiaomi’s newest skin on top of Android 11. However, considering the fact that both handsets aren’t expected to be released until later this year, things might change.
