Rawicz, Poland – April 28, 2021 – After a successful launch, a guy named Kacper Skrzypek posted some codes on Twitter that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition to be rebranded in India as the POCO F3 GT. Kacper Skrzypek is a Polish unofficial MIUI translator/Xiaomi.eu tester/Mi tipster and leaker according to his bio.
Rebranding is not new to us. Xiaomi has been doing this for more than a couple of years now. The most famous rebranding it did was Redmi K20 Series to Mi 9T Series. Then, it changes in Redmi K30 Pro when Xiaomi decided to rebrand it as POCO smartphones.
They also continue the tradition from Redmi K40 to POCO F3. Although there’s a catch. India’s branding is also different than the global market. Xiaomi decided to release the Redmi K40 and the Redmi K40 Pro+ as Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro. So, even if the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will be released as the POCO F3 GT, we’re still baffled as to what name it will sport in the global market.
It is said that the name will compete against realme’s “GT” Edition. We can also regard the moniker as a tease that Xiaomi is really planning to go beyond the boundaries to obliterate realme’s smartphone lineup.
For now, even if this is true or not, we may expect these specifications and features for the POCO F3 GT: There’s a 6.67″ 1080×2400 120 Hz OLED screen with 1B colors, the Dimensity 1200 chipset at the helm with 6/8/12 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage, a triple rear camera system (64 MP main, 8 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro), a 16 MP selfie snapper, stereo speakers tuned by JBL, and a 5,065 mAh battery with 67W fast charging.
Lastly, the translator on EU forum replied to a commenter that unfortunately, this device will not be available in Europe.
