Manila City, Metro Manila, Philippines – March 17, 2021 – We tried to look in-depth at what made the Redmi K40 (POCO F3) the most awaited smartphone in the fiscal year 2021 Q3.
Package
The box comes with the unit itself, jelly case, warranty card, user manual, USB Type-C cable, and the 33W charger. We thought that Xiaomi will no longer include a wall charger since they did that to the Xiaomi Mi 11, a high-end smartphone.
Design and body
The Redmi K40 (POCO F3) has three color variants; aurora, black, and white. Luckily we got the aurora variant. To me personally, the color of the smartphone is astonishing. The color changes when light shines on its skin. If you’ve seen an aurora, whether online or in-person, you really can tell that they are both almost look like.
The dimension is 163.7 x 76.4 x 7.8 mm, 196g in weight, and it has a 6.67-inch display. Meanwhile, in front, it continues the punch-hole approach for its selfie camera.

I want also want to emphasize that the Redmi K40 has a metal frame and two Corning Gorilla Glass to protect both front and back.
The camera placement design is also something new to my eyes, and for me, it’s way better than that of Mi 11. It also feels more refined than the K30.
Display
Now this time it gets more interesting. The handset has an AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, flat E4 panel (a Samsung-made), 1080p, and HDR10+. This made the colors made more variant, the brightness is respectable, and lastly, it is smoother than other high-end smartphones that I had tested. I can compare its color definition to an IPS monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate.
Gameplay
Playing Call of Duty Mobile on the phone is phenomenal. The refresh rate of 120Hz made the difference. I can say the tagline of gamers that refresh rate win games seem to reflect on this idea. I can shot better, and I can maneuver better.
On the other hand, playing Mobile Legends on this device is pretty much normal with the other high-end phones. Maybe because the game only supports up to 60Hz refresh rate.
Performance in benchmarks
The recently-released smartphone scored a 619218 on AnTuTu benchmark v8.5.6. Then it got a 4,858 score on Sling Shot Extreme – OpenGL ES 3.1. And the DRM Info gave a level 1 security for the Redmi K40 (POCO F3). This comes as no surprise since the handset has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870, which is said to be the overclocked version of Snapdragon 865. The chip is paired with an awesome integrated GPU, the Adreno 650.

Battery and charging
The Redmi K40 (POCO F3) is packed with a 4520mAh, which is for me, a 2020 thing. Most of the smartphones right now are being sold with a 5000mAh of battery. The handset can be charged from 0% to 100% in 50 mins to 55 mins.
Conclusion
Overall, considering the price of Redmi K40 (POCO F3), which is CNY 1999 (~Php15,000) for 6GB RAM – 128GB ROM, CNY 2199 (~Php16,500) for 8GB RAM – 128GB ROM, CNY 2499 (~Php18,900) for 8GB RAM – 256GB ROM, and CNY 2699 (~Php20,300) for 12GB RAM – 256GB ROM, the handset is the tough-to-beat smartphone in this quarter of 2021.
