Hong Kong – Beijing, China – June 30, 2022 – Today, Xiaomi Solidifies its commitment to Privacy and Data Security. As the world’s leading consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company, Xiaomi held employee training events and expert seminars at the Xiaomi Technology Park in Beijing, and at Xiaomi’s Technology Operation Center in Singapore.
It hosts specialized training sessions for its engineers and other staff members and moderated talks about the value of data security and user privacy protection with business leaders, IT security professionals, and members of the general public for the third year in a row. Along with its yearly transparency report highlighting its data security initiatives, Xiaomi also released upgraded white papers on security and privacy.
The month-long series of activities had the dual goals of strengthening Xiaomi’s user security and privacy protection policies and fostering customer confidence in its products through openness and accountability.
Xiaomi has established a thorough governance framework to safeguard user privacy and data security. This requires collaboration between specialists in legal compliance, smartphone operating system engineering, and cybersecurity. A Security and Privacy Committee headed by senior executives are in charge of these experts. Cui Baoqiu, Xiaomi Vice President and Chairman of the Xiaomi Security and Privacy Committee, Eugene Liderman, Director of Android Security Strategy of Google, Professor Liu Yang, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University are the big names in technology and security sector that were involved in this activities.
In 2014, Xiaomi established its Security and Privacy Committee. Xiaomi was the first Chinese company to get certified by TrustArc in 2016. In 2018, Xiaomi embraced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union. In 2019, Xiaomi’s security and privacy procedures received ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27018 certifications. Xiaomi became the first manufacturer of Android smartphones to issue a transparency report last year. This year, Xiaomi received the NIST CSF (National Institute of Standards and Technology, Cybersecurity Framework) certificate of registration, enhancing its capacity for data security protection.
