April 16 – Sparrows News, a dedicated technology news channel on YouTube, posts a video of underwater unboxing of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. In the video, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra boasts the IP68 rating by unboxing the device, hovering the apps, and taking photos while under the water.
Both the China-only Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra are the first smartphones to have the IP rating. This pushed Xiaomi to flaunt the ultra-cool feature of the devices. Hence, the unboxing under the water was made.
However, it is not Xiaomi who’ve done this first. It was the telecommunications company in the United States who started it, T-Mobile. They showcase the waterproof feature of Samsung Galaxy phones back in the day.
The video also shows that you can take incredible shots and you can still appreciate the quality of the display. Even you’re under the water.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra packs the latest Snapdragon 888 chip, a 6.81-inch AMOLED of 1440p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and a 5,000mAh battery.
However, neither the display nor the IP68 rating is the selling point of the flagship phone – it is the Samsung’s largest 1/1.12″ 50MP GN2 sensor for its main camera, a 48MP 5x periscope camera, and a 48MP 12mm ultrawide.
