Tsar Bomb in Mid-range Segment – POCO X3’s Review

Yesterday, POCO dropped the Tsar Bomb in mid-range segment. It destroyed every smartphone in the segment with its explosive specifications and features. But the most dangerous part of the bomb is its price. Yes, you read it right. The starting price of POCO X3 is only PHP 10,990 despite the explosive things it can offer.

Package inclusion

Well, of course, the box comes with the POCO X3 itself, translucent case, sim ejector, charging adapter with its adapter, and lastly, the manuals.

Design

Firstly, the display has a resolution of 1080p, while its screen-to-body ratio is approximately 85%. Moreover, its camera display is a punch hole.

Lastly, the most noticeable display of POCO X3 is at the back. The camera is placement is different this time as it may seem inspired by a die-cut CDs in the 90s.

Built

The POCO X3’s display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass at the back. And surprisingly, we suspect that the plastic at the back is made of poly-carbonate material. Lastly, its frame is made of aluminum.

Features

Like its predecessor, POCO X3 is has a 120 Hz refresh rate to help the smartphone emphasize the images on your mobile games who are capable of it. In addition, it has an automatic switching feature that when you’re on a standby it will switch the refresh rate from 120 Hz to 60 Hz.

Then secondly, we have the 240 Hz sampling touch latency. We also have the Liquid Cooling System 1.0 that helps the smartphone to cool down the unit when your game went into 1 hour back-and-forth fight. Not to mention, the Game Turbo 3.0 to help you optimized the game even more.

Battery

POCO made a game-changer move when they compensate the 120 Hz refresh rate with a massive 5160 mAh battery. Not only that, POCO also paired the massive battery with a turbo charging feature for about 33W.

Performance

With the help of Snapdragon 732G, the game play on mobile legends is so smooth as hell. I never experienced a stuttering, lag, and hang time, well of course, except for the times that my network becomes unreliable.

On my personal experience, I am very confident that the performance of POCO X3 is way better than Redmi Note 8 Pro at somehow 10% even more faster.

Camera

The POCO X3 sport 64 MP quad camera elevated by Sony IMX 682 that produce above decent shots. Its portrait shot is exceptional as it really separate the object from the background. Above all, most of the time the shots feels like more of a flagship level. Making it a worthy of the title the Tsar Bomb in Mid-range Segment.

Taking a Deep Dive into the Capability of the New SD 732G Inside the POCO X3

Three days from now the POCO X3 is set to launch here in the Philippines. Its features and specifications are being leaked throughout the web. So, what makes the POCO X3 so special? One of the cool answer is about its processor. That is why we’re taking a deep dive into the capability of Snapdragon 732G.

It is important for us consumers to have a decent or more than decent processor for us to do our daily task in a convenient manner. Without a good processor we may experience lags, hang times, and we will become unproductive.

Benchmarks

One of the factors a tech enthusiast is looking on a processor, is its benchmark scores. So let me list down the scores of this processor from well-known benchmark institutions.

Firstly, we have the Antutu Benchmark wherein the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G scored approximately 300,000 (as advertised by POCO). In other words, it has a higher score than Mediatek Helio G90T, which has equal or more than 290,000 score.

Lastly, we have the Geekbench. The Snapdragon 732G scored 571 for the Single Core category. Meanwhile, its score in Multi Core is 1766. While its predecessor, Snapdragon 730G, has a score of 530 for Single Core, and 1720 for Multi Core.

Performance

Now, we’re taking a deep dive on its specifications and features, so we can put the performance into theory.

The Snapdragon 732G has a clock speed up to 2.3 GHz. Just wanna share that this speed indicates how fast can a processor interpret the command of a user. In addition, its Adreno 618 CPU is up to 15% faster. Moreover, its AI performance, according to Qualcomm, is up to 3.6. Making it a very competitive in AI performance.

Now, since I was able to enumerate the things we should know about its performance, let’s talk about the performance for the camera.

The Snapdragon 732G can record 4K Ultra HD at 30 frames per second. While it can record slow motion on 1080p at 120 frames per second and 720p at 240 frames per second.

Well, as of now, we don’t have any idea yet on how much heat it will incinerate. But, I just want to let you know that its predecessor 730G has heating test score of 42.1 degree Celsius. We can assume that the 732G will have more, less, or the same heating score with that of 730G.

Gaming

I’m sure you’re looking forward about its gaming capabilities. So now we’re taking a deep dive on its gaming capabilities.

Let’s start with a optimization. According to Qualcomm they collaborated with game developers to elevate the gaming optimization of Snapdragon 732G.

Secondly, stutter reducer. Yes, according Qualcomm it has a shutter reducer that reduce the stuttering by up to 90% when you’re in-game to ensure you’re enjoying your game in your most enjoyable way.

And then we have a Wi-Fi latency manager. This feature help your smartphone to reduce latency in connection by optimizing network settings and Wi-Fi configurations.

Lastly, like what I said the Adreno 618 is up to 15% faster. This feature will help the smartphone deliver about 30-35% faster graphics rendering and CPU performance. Source.

Xiaomi Philippines Teases POCO X3

Yesterday, Xiaomi Philippines teases POCO X3 as a new smartphone entering this month of September. The launch date is set on September 7, 2020. In addition, the POCO X3 is set to be the first unique smartphone from POCO after POCOPHONE F1. Moreover, the POCO X3 is the first smartphone to uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 732G.

The new processor from Qualcomm will become the contender in mid-range segment. Its size is 8 nm, perfect size to help POCO X3 become more efficient.

Also according to Qualcomm’s website, most of the features and specifications of 732G and 730G are almost the same. But the notable difference is the clock speed, wherein 732G has a clock speed of up to 2.3 GHz, while the 730G has up to 2.2 GHz.

What we know about its specs and features

Well it is given that its processor will be the Snapdragon 732G. So, let us tell other things about the POCO X3. Firstly, the POCO X3 support 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz sampling refresh rate. It is the same refresh rate of POCO X2.

Secondly, it has four cameras at the back, 64MP as a main shooter.

Right now, we don’t have any clue yet on what will be its camera sensor. But we suspect that it will be a Sony IMX, since most of POCO smartphones’ camera are elevated with Sony IMX. In-front, it has a 20MP selfie shooter.

And lastly, the POCO X3 will get a massive battery juice for about 5160 mAh battery capacity. While its charging capability is 33W charging speed.

Price

The price will be announced on September 7, 2020 on its launch date. We will also have an idea when it will be available for purchase. We suspect that the Xiaomi store in Shopee will be the first online store to sell the POCO X3.
