The New Version of Mi 10 with Snapdragon 870 SoC

January 26, 2021 – Beijing, China – Xiaomi, a leading global innovator in the field of IoT or smartphones, released the new version of Mi 10 powered by Snapdragon 870 SoC. As of now, the Mi 10 Series is composed of the following; Mi 10 5G, Mi 10 Pro 5G, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 10T 5G, Mi 10T Pro 5G, Mi 10 Lite 5G, Mi 10T Lite 5G, and Mi 10i 5G. If we are going to look at the Mi 10 Series, it is clear that the last three variants don’t have 865 Snapdragon in their vessel.

The Mi 10 Pro

The Snapdragon 870 SoC is the overclocked version of Snapdragon 865+ – this is according to Qualcomm’s statement. So based on this, the Snapdragon 870 SoC has the same specs and features as that of Snapdragon 865+. However, the only difference is the Snapdragon 870 SoC comes with the prime core clocked at 3.2GHz.

The first-ever smartphone to have the Snapdragon 870 SoC is the Motorola Edge S, which was unveiled today. Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, iQOO, and realme are the smartphone brands yet to unveiled their smartphones that will use this monstrous processor.

To sum up, the new version of Mi 10 with Snapdragon 870 SoC is only available in China. We are yet to confirm if it will be available globally. According to Digital Chat Station, a content-leaker in weibo, the new variant is a naming recommendation anniversary edition.

Redmi 9T Review – Better than Poco M3?

So the first device to be launched this year 2021 for Redmi is the Redmi 9T series, this is just one of 2 that was released early this year and definitely its a budget series. On specs sheet it is very much the same as the Poco M3, the only difference here is that this has the 8MP Ultrawide Sensor which the other one dont have.

On specs sheet it looks quite impressive, here are the specs of the Redmi 9T

  • 6.53-inch LCD display, 2,400 x 1,080 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate
  • 11nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor

  • 4GB LPDDR4X RAM

  • Fingerprint reader (side-mounted)
  • 6,000mAh battery with 18-watt USB-C charging
  • MIUI 12 based on Android 10
  • Color options: Ocean Green, Tropical Blue, Sunrise Orange, Carbon Gray

Now after unboxing the phone, here are the items inside:

Design

It is by no brainer it is almost a carbon copy of the Poco M3, except that the camera module is back to the way it was, just the camera bump not a whole cover like what we saw on the M3.

After taking a quick phone tour, yeah it was almost alike alright, but what I like on this one is the generous Redmi Logo being engraved at the back, it kinda looks cool, but I miss the semi synthetic leather feel on the back of the Poco M3.

Now among the 4 colors available, my personaly favorite is the Tropical Blue. Whats your pick?

Okay judging from the photos and remembering the experience I had with the Poco M3, I can say that this phone takes the photo slightly faster than the M3 and somehow it looks a little more better and decent. Especially outdoors it looks pretty nice, the colors are really very sharp and nice.

Verdict

Now comparing to the Poco M3, this one is a lot better, not only it has a better cam, the UI experience was a lot better and less lag.

MIUI 13 was confirmed on these upcoming devices

January 11, 2021 – @_the_tech_guy, an insider or a tech leaker of the latest technology in China, posted that MIUI 13 was confirmed on the upcoming devices of Xiaomi. His source is the HTML code on Xiaomi’s en.miui.com website.

And to recall, before this MIUI 13 idea, Xiaomi is already rolling out MIUI 12.5. It’s a better MIUI 12 OS skin than the current MIUI 12.0. The first smartphone to received stable updates of MIUI 12.5 is the most powerful smartphone yet, Mi 11.

And currently, Xiaomi hasn’t given any idea on what devices will receive the MIUI 13. However, the thing that we know is that if your smartphone was released recently, more likely 1-2 years, there is a high chance that you’ll get the MIUI 13.

Lastly, as indicated in the HTML codes of MIUI’s website, the two phones that will be released soon are Mi Note 11 and Mi Mix 4.

Mi Note series is more likely a lite version of the Mi flagship line. On the other hand, the Mi Mix series is a flagship line that prioritizes a bezel-less display. Not to mention it has all the specifications of a high-end smartphone has. It’s just it has a twist.

Inside the box

Alright, let’s start with the box. Inside, we see the familiar accessories, except for the charger. We have the Mi 11 itself, a jelly case, a warranty card, and a user manual.

Rear Camera

The 108 MP 26mm did a phenomenal job on night shots and low lights. While when there is a sun or an obvious light, we can notice deeper, detailed, and clear shots. Selfie Camera

What I can say about its selfie camera is that, its way better than those smartphones from the competitors that has the same price point. Its selfie is on point in details and you can actually see how the pictures were improved by the AI. Maybe because of the Qualcomm Spectra™ 580 ISP – the quality of AI and processing of selfies were improved compare to smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Video Recording

Meanwhile, the video recording is most likely the same as Mi 10. However, kind of inferior against Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Ultra. These are the quality videos that Mi 11 can record: 8K@24/30fps, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240/480fps; gyro-EIS.

Display

The display is something that Xiaomi can brag about. It is the first-ever flagship phone of Xiaomi that has a Quad High Definition (QHD) resolution (1440 x 2340). And on top of that, a 120Hz refresh rate and an AMOLED were added to bring the near-to-maximum experience a customer can have.

And not to mention, to help you ease your worries, Xiaomi put the strongest Corning Gorilla Glass yet to exist, the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. “In our lab tests, Gorilla Glass Victus survived drops onto hard, rough surfaces from up to 2 meters. Competitive aluminosilicate glasses, from other manufacturers, typically fail when dropped from 0.8 meters.” – Corning said.

Battery and Charging

Although, we expect Xiaomi to put some whooping juice inside – well, they just packed a 4600 mAh battery capacity. This is kinda okay in my opinion, it’s just that I expect to lock it at 5000 mAh.

The charging speed is up to 55W. Although, it’s a bit disappointed that Xiaomi did not put a charger inside.

Performance

Oh, yes, lastly we had the Mi 11 tested its benchmark on Antutu. And what we got is a whooping 735,931. It outpowered its competitor HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro by almost 100,000 scores. We will not tell you the gameplay and how smooth it is. But, you can always watch our YouTube video for a full review of Mi 11.
