Capital Beijing – August 11, 2022 – A successful event has been held by Xiaomi. Lots of great products were introduced and unveiled. The second-generation Xiaomi Mix Fold, Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4-inch, Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro, Xiaomi MIJIA Partition Washing and Drying Machine, and Xiaomi MIJIA Desktop Drinking Machine Happy Edition. But the most intriguing part of the event was the part that Xiaomi unveils CyberOne – its first-ever full-size humanoid robot.
According to the company, “It is 1.77 meters high and weighs 52kg. It is a Leo and is a good friend of human beings; because it is considered a “big man” in the humanoid robot world, the engineer gave it a stage name, “Tie Da”. Moreover, Xiaomi asks the tech community to tell them as to what skills we would like CyberOne to have.
Meanwhile, the robot’s face sports a curved OLED panel that allows it to see the world in 3D. It has two microphones for hearing. Also, it has a company-developed self-developed whole-body control algorithm that can coordinate the movement of 21 joints. Furthermore, CyberOne can recognize 85 environmental semantics and interpret 45 human semantic emotions. Every single day, the robot is said to learn new skills thanks to the algorithm.
According to the company, the humanoid robot combines sophisticated mechatronics and AI developed by the company’s specialized Robot Labs. The CyberOne was built with significant resources and labor, according to the company.
The CyberOne is the first-ever product and the majority of its features are still in the works, which means, it is susceptible to flaws. We can conclude that it is still no match against Boston Dynamics’ robots. However, the robot has clearly outperformed Tesla’s humanoid prototype. A pretty good start really for Xiaomi.
Robots still feel like a dystopian nightmare, but recent advancements in the field indicate that the future will be filled with automated gadgets and robots. Whether we like it or not, robots will soon become a part of our daily lives.
Xiaomi’s CyberOne Robot would cost between 600,000 and 700,000 yuan (approximately PHP 4,929,276.70 and PHP 5,750,822.82), and it is not yet available for purchase.
