Mapletree Business City, Singapore, February 25, 2021 – The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), a statutory board of the Singapore government, under the Ministry of Communications and Information, has information about Redmi K40 can be the next POCO smartphone.
Most of the Redmi phones when they get launched globally, they tend to become rebranded POCO smartphones. For example, Redmi K30 Pro as POCO F2 Pro and Redmi K30 as POCO X2. This strategy is a good idea to cut the cost of selling smartphones and especially their taxes.
Below is the listing from IMDA to strengthen our hypothesis.
As we can see, the name or brand of the smartphone is POCO. Meanwhile, its model number or model name is stated which is M2012K11AG. In addition, you can also see that the device is definitely a 5G-ready smartphone with Bluetooth, WiFi, and NFC. This helps us create a hypothesis that this POCO smartphone may become the K40. However, since it did not show the whole specifications, we don’t want to make a definite conclusion, but rather put it as a hypothesis for the meantime.
