Beijing City, Mainland China – March 25, 2021 – Xiaomi, the youngest company to join the Fortune 500. Yesterday, Xiaomi teased a camera with a liquid lens on the Mi Mix. According to the company, the camera lens is expected to handle both macro and telephoto shots.
Aside from the leaks that the upcoming Mi Mix lineup is foldable, now we get to know that it will also sport a liquid lens. Based on the video from Sparrow News, it appears that the lens has a layer of liquid and the lens’s focus and focal length are change by applying an electrical voltage. Xiaomi mentioned that the lens will allow the camera to take everything from telephoto to macro shots. Also, it can do fast autofocus.
According to our research, the liquid lens has been around for a number of years already in the world. However, they’re typically found in industrial applications, in which traditional liquid lens with moving mechanical parts might wear out too quickly. Although its compact size and versatility make them an appealing prospect for smartphones. To put it into reality, this simply means that this type of lens can combine all the ability of a quad camera into a single camera.
After their disappearance for almost three years, this feature suits perfectly the Mi Mix lineup. As we all know, this lineup always has the most innovative ideas in all Xiaomi lineups ranging from Redmi to Mi.
