Beijing, CHINA – November 20, 2022 – It’s been 19 months since Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Fold, the first iteration of Xiaomi Fold. That fold hauled a lot of compliments due to how versatile it is for being a phone while it can be a tablet. It’s also the first time Xiaomi break the stereotype that it can’t create great foldable handsets compared to its competitor. It’s a must-have if you’re a content creator, student, etc. And now, the supposed-to-be Xiaomi Fold first-generation got leaked.
Remember in 2019 when Xiaomi filed a patent with the CNIPA for an exterior folding phone? Yes, that’s the thing you’ll remember when you see the leaked photos. So, it’s been 3 years since then, and the developer Kuba Wojciechowski (@Za_Raczke) is the one who shared the real-life images of the device. Sadly, this outward prototype was passed to certifications and such but never got released due to Xiaomi’s decision on opting to inward approach than an outward approach on their foldable handsets.
According to reports, the device was equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 and an X50 modem for 5G support. In addition, the leaker posted that the handset was super discreet, and very few units reached their way into the public. Thus, we can assume by the look at its liability is its own design.
