In Beijing, China – August 10, 2021 – Hours after Xiaomi Mix 4 was released, Xiaomi releases Xiaomi Pad 5 and Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro. Both smart-pad devices were equipped with powerful processors. The pro version has the Snapdragon 870, while the standard has the Snapdragon 860. These chips are paired with Adreno 650 (for SD 870) and 640 (for SD 860) – powerful processors that can handle video editing and photo editing, perfect for employees, students, and et cetera.
Xiaomi emphasizes, that the Mi Pad 5 series works with the professional drawing software, Concept Sketchpad, to bring a full range of brushes, a rich variety of drawing tools, super professional, and super easy to use. It’s also worth noting that handwritten notes canvas support stylus tracking compensation, handwriting landscaping, a sum molding, handwriting recognition, correction.
The company also added that 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, support tilt writing, a 240Hz stylus sampling rate. Support magnetic wireless charging. Also, it can write continuously for 8 hours with a full battery and can write for 20 minutes after 1 minute of charging. There’s nothing surprising here since both devices have massive battery juice. The difference is their charging capability. The standard version can only do up to 33W fast charge, while the pro variant is capable of 67W ultra-fast charging.
In their display section, both tablets come with an 11-inch display of 2560×1600 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The 10-bit panels come with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10. The company claimed it can go up to 500 nits brightness and the TrueTone technology for adapting the colors and brightness to ambient light.
When it comes to the camera, the pill-like shape camera on the Pad 5 holds a single 13MP shooter, while the Wi-Fi-only Pro has a 13MP main and 5MP ultra-wide combo. The Pro 5G, on the other hand, upgrades the main camera to a 50MP sensor, while retaining the 5MP ultrawide unit. On the other hand, the standard version has a 13MP single camera in front, while its selfie camera has an 8MP lens.
One of the differences is its speaker, the pro version has 8-speaker surround hearing Dolby Atmos full immersion. Meanwhile, the standard version only has 4-speaker surround hearing Dolby Atmos full immersion.
We also like how the MIUI team customizes in proportion the UI to its large screen at the launch.
For the price and availability, the base version of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM will cost Yuan 1,999 (PHP 15,542.73). For 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM the price is Yuan 2,299 (PHP 17,875.30). On the other hand, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM version is priced at Yuan 2,499 (PHP 19,430.35), followed by the 6GB RAM + 256 GB ROM is price at Yuan 2,799 (PHP 21,762.93). Above all, these prices are extremely cheap and affordable proportionally great to its specs and features. However, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Series may not come globally in our opinion. So, we may need our grey market’s powers to buy them in case they won’t come globally.
