Capital of China, Beijing – August 11, 2022 – At long last, the second generation of Xiaomi’s under-display camera has been launched in the form of Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. This is their take against the likes of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, OPPO Find N, Vivo Fold X, and others in the market. So what makes this folding-phone-tablet ahead of the game?
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 arrives with a different rear-facing camera design than the first generation. The design has a horizontal camera module with three Leica-co-engineered sensors. A 50MP Sony IMX 766 primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto camera lens that is capable of 2x zoom. On the other side of the foldable-phone-tablet, there is a volume rocker and power button. The latter part also functions as a fingerprint scanner made by Goodix, an integrated solution provider for applications based on IC design and software development offering industry-leading software and hardware semiconductor solutions for smart devices, IoT applications, and automotive electronics.
When unfolded, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has a thickness of 5.4mm. It measures about 11.2mm when folded. While the weight is approximately 262g.
Going to its display, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2’s outer display is a 6.5-inch Samsung E5 AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. We would also like to emphasize its glass protection which is the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the most durable glass currently on the market. Now when the device is opened, the interior Eco OLED screen measures 8.2-inches and has a 2.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Also, the interior display has ultra-thin glass and a second-generation under-display camera. Dolby Vision, 1,000 nits peak brightness, and TrueColour gamut are all supported on both the inner and outer displays.
Inside, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. It has 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The foldable smartphone is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. It comes pre-installed with MIUI 13-based Android 12.
And for its price, Xiaomi tagged CNY 8,999 ~ PHP 74,304.34 for the base version, 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM. CNY 9,999 ~ PHP 82,561.30 for the heart version, 12GB RAM + 512GB ROM, and CNY 11,999 ~ PHP 99,075.21 for the biggest version, 12GB RAM + 1TB ROM.
