Xiaomi will announce international availability for the 13 and 13 Pro, first unveiled in China in December, at the end of this week. Despite this, the family is clearly missing an Ultra. The company’s CEO may have stated that there will be no 13S Ultra this year, but he did not mention the 13 Ultra, which has seen a steady increase in leaks in recent weeks.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was released in July 2022, so its successor has plenty of time. A couple of images depicting a case allegedly meant for the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra was leaked today, and they paint a picture of an absolutely massive circular camera island.
After all course, we’re familiar with this, as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s was no slouch in that department. Today’s case leak is also consistent with a purported sketch of the device and an alleged live hands-on image, which were leaked in China last week. The former is shown below, and the latter is shown in the next paragraph.
The sensor arrangement appears to be similar, but it is not perfect. The oval-shaped cutout at the top of the island could serve a purpose, but it’s not clear from the other leaked images.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is expected to be released in China in March or April. Given the Ultra lineage, it should have a strong emphasis on photography. According to a previous leak, the 13 Ultra will retain its predecessor’s 1-inch main sensor while adding gimbal stabilization. There will be autofocus on all four cameras on the back, as well as a dToF (direct Time-of-Flight) sensor. Stay tuned, and we’ll update you as soon as we learn more.
