In China – August 30 – Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster on Weibo who tackles tech tips, mentioned that Xiaomi 12 may use three 50MP camera lenses at the back – one lens will use 5x periscope.
Before anything else, let us first make a reminder that most Xiaomi phones nowadays use a 108MP as the main shooter camera – from their midrange devices to upper-midrange devices. On the other hand, only the flagship phones use a different kind of approach. All of Xiaomi’s flagship phones only use a maximum of 50MP. So it’s no surprise that Xiaomi’s next flagship phone may equip a 50MP main shooter camera or the maximum pixel it can offer.
Moving to the topic, according to the tipster, Xiaomi is working on a 10x periscopic lens and is expected to use it for the next flagship, however, the ideal focal length still remains and the company settles to the 5x periscopic lens.
Also, the tipster added that the next year’s imaging flagship is currently testing three main cameras, 50MP super-outsole main camera +50MP high-quality super wide-angle +50MP high-quality periscope.
If we put these all including the past tips and leaks from other sources, Xiaomi Mi 12 may have the following: an LTPO AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate working in the 1-120 Hz range, a Snapdragon 898 processor with an LPDDR5X RAM, and three 50MP camera lenses at the back while one sensor will use a 5x periscopic lens.
