These two devices will be readily available for purchase tomorrow and both offer an early bird price: The POCO M5 starts at PHP 7,399 – while the POCO M5s starts at PHP 8,599.
As we said, each phone is great in a certain category. So, which one would suit you best for tomorrow’s early-bird sale?
The POCO M5
The POCO M5, which is powered by the all-new yet powerful MediaTek Helio G99 processor, provides an incredibly smooth gaming experience. The powerful chip, which is built on a flagship-level 6nm manufacturing process, includes an octa-core CPU with two high-performance Cortex-A76 clocking up to 2.2GHz, as well as an Arm Mali G57 GPU for advanced 3D graphics — an unprecedented full system for a snappier gaming experience in a value phone.
The POCO M5 can dynamically switch the display refresh rate thanks to its 90Hz DynamicSwitch display. When playing games, it adjusts to a very fast refresh rate for high-frame gaming titles, but it can switch to a slower refresh rate for video playback. This conserves power while also ensuring sustained and longer gameplay with maximum battery life.
The POCO M5’s 6.58-inch FHD+ DotDrop display provides rich color accuracy and crisp graphics. The device has 240Hz touch sampling rate that speeds up the overall experience and aids significantly in fast-paced games with faster touch response.
There are three cameras attached at the back. The main 50MP shooter is assisted by 2MP macro and 2MP depth.
To top it all up, the POCO M5’s high-capacity 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging won’t leave you hanging.
The POCO M5s
While the POCO M5 focuses more in gaming, the POCO M5s focuses more in terms how you will look good in your social media and how you’re gonna interact with it.
The device’s camera system is capable of recording stunning 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps. To us, that 1080p at 60fps or 120fps are already overkill configuration to record through rear camera. On the other hand, its 13MP selfie shooter offers 1080p 30fps, which is to us, a normal configuration to shoot your TikTok/Facebook Reels videos.
Also, the POCO M5s come with an impressive 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED DotDisplay for better browsing, watching, and editing videos and photos. We would like also to emphasize the POCO M5s’ smooth visuals and excellent color performance. This includes premium features to improve user comfort – such as DC Dimming and 360-degree ambient light sensors to adjust screen brightness so you can watch an entire live stream without straining your precious eyes.
The POCO M5s has all the power you need to bring you the magic fun in the audio-visual world, thanks to its MediaTek Helio G95 chipset. Smooth graphics performance combined with efficiency allows for immersive augmented reality, brilliant camera shooting, and seamless streaming experiences. It also has a 5,000mAh battery that can last up to 12 hours of continuous immersive fun or one and a half days of nonstop voice calls. If you wanted to, it could even last a month in standby mode. You can also charge your huge battery within an hour only—Thanks to its 33W fast charging capability.
The verdict
We think that the POCO M5 has more edge in terms of gaming capability. With its 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz sampling rate, and MediaTek Helio G99 (6nm).
On the other hand, The POCO M5s offers a more diverse experience. Although it can casually game—its AMOLED display, camera prowess, and charging capability have more impact for day-to-day or casual users.
We say that if you’re into gaming, then the POCO M5 suits you better, but for day-to-day usage, hence the POCO M5s suits you better.
