Beijing, China, September 27, 2021 – Xiaomi finally unveils the anticipated Xiaomi Civi. The phone sports the first-ever 32MP AF selfie camera. While Xiaomi put a 120Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 778G 5G to uplift the selling point of a 32MP AF selfie camera.
Before laying the additional specs and features of the phone, let’s discuss the most noticeable selling point of the new phone, which is its name. I think this is a new moniker of Xiaomi to change the names of its smartphone entering the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021 and of course, moving forward. First, they did drop the Mi moniker and replaced it with Xiaomi. And now, Mi Note Series was no longer to be seen in the market, while a new uprising Xiaomi moniker in the name of Civi arises. So, I guess the Xiaomi Civi might replace the Mi Note Series.
And now, to talk about its specs and features, let’s start with its gaming and performance. The device has Snapdragon 778G 5G, a 6nm chip from Qualcomm, on top of Adreno 642L GPU, and an X53 5G modem 5G. These parts of the device help it to handle 90fps mobile games. However, it contradicts its 120Hz AMOLED display.
My favorite feature of this device is its 9-layer graphene that keeps the chip running cool. Also, the Adreno supports Variable Rate Shading, which can boost performance with minimal image quality loss.
Moving on to the camera, the main module is based around a 64 MP sensor. There’s no optical stabilization.
The next camera has a 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8 MP sensor. Last on the back is a 2 MP macro camera. For selfies, the Xiaomi Civi comes equipped with a 32 MP shooter with an autofocus lens.
Xiaomi even compares Xiaomi Civi’s selfie camera to a flagship device, iPhone 12.
Meanwhile, its battery is a bit disappointing considering we are now transitioning to the 4th quarter of 2021, Xiaomi only packed a 4,500mAh, however, the company increase its charging speed to 55W, which is new to the market.
And lastly, also the second disappointing part of the device is its price. The company puts up a Yuan 2,599~PHP 20,592.66 for its standard version, while Yuan 2,899~PHP 22,969.65 for its 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM, and lastly Yuan 3,199~PHP 25,346.64 for 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM. Above all, these prices seem a bit pricey in my opinion.
